The Society of Volta River Authority Engineers, SOVRAE, has donated 135 copies of assorted science books to St. James Seminary and Senior High School.
The books, worth thousands of cedis were presented in a short ceremony at the school’s premises on Monday, July 22, 2019. They include forty-five copies each of physics, chemistry and elective mathematics textbooks.
The donation which is part of the group’s corporate social responsibility is to enrich the collection of books at the school’s library and facilitate the study of science and mathematics in the school.
The PTA chairman of the school, Mr Charles Dzikunu, who is himself the Vice President of the society, led his colleague engineers to the school for the presentation.
The President of the Society, Mr Darlington Ahuble, presented the package to the Vice Rector, Mr Daniel Yeboah, popularly called OSA, and Rev. Fr. Gordon Tawiah, who received the books on behalf of the school.
Mr Ahuble encouraged the school authorities and students to continue working hard to maintain the academic standards and achieve more laurels.
In his speech, the Vice Rector, thanked the society for the assistance and assured them that the books would be put to good use. He further asked God to strengthen the association in it’s endeavours and help them to do more of such kind gestures.
The St. James Seminary has in the last decade been adjudged the best senior high school at the West African School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) and has produced the top WASSCE award-winners on many occasions.
